As Director of the Santa Clara County Office of Education’s (SCCOE) Early Learning Services Department, Antonio Fuentes is responsible for promoting, supporting, and advocating for all children to have access to early learning – regardless of their abilities, both locally, regionally, and statewide. Antonio has worked for SCCOE since 2013 and maintains his Teaching and Administrative Services Credential.

Antonio currently serves on the Local Early Education Planning Council of Santa Clara County (LPC). The LPC is a 30-member Council representing various categories within the early learning field. Antonio brings to the FIRST5 Commission operational experience in the early education field implementing the QUALITY MATTERS initiative with the vision that all children in Santa Clara County participate in high-quality early learning program.
Antonio has also served on the following boards: Leadership Gilroy Foundation (1998 – 2000), Gilroy Unified School District – ELL Advisory Board (1999 – 2000), and the City of Gilroy – Library Commission (2002 – 2004). Antonio earned his B.A. at the University of California, Santa Cruz and his master’s degree at Pepperdine University.
