The childcare system is a key component of economic stability. In a direct response to address the significant challenges that families face due to COVID-19 to access high quality child care in Santa Clara County, FIRST 5 Santa Clara County (FIRST 5), the City of San Jose, Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, and Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) are providing a one-time $10,000 stabilization fund to Family Child Care Homes to stabilize child care. The Family Child Care Home Stabilization Fund is administered by FIRST 5 of Santa Clara County, the City of San Jose, and the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors in partnership with the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE), Healthier Kids Foundation and other Community Partners.
The Family Child Care Home Stabilization Fund distributes $3.5 M of City of San Jose Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF), $1.67 M of Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors CRF, and $105K of Supervisor Susan Ellenberg District 4 Inventory Item Funding. A braided funding model utilizing the City of San Jose Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF), Supervisor Ellenberg’s Inventory Item Funds, and Santa Clara County CRF will be distributed to 484 quality Family Child Care Home providers within Santa Clara County.
