Kid -Friendly Health Mobile Ready to Board

Health Mobile

Santa Clara, California, September 14, 2007 – Many children are uninsured in Santa Clara County. Children need to have access to comprehensive health care with continuous medical and dental care coverage in order to ensure healthy growth and development. Starting this fall, the newly designed, kid-friendly, Health Mobile will provide primary health and dental care services in Santa Clara County to children with least access to comprehensive health and dental care. The Health Mobile also comes right in time for the new oral health requirement law for children entering kindergarten.

“The Health Mobile provides care at schools, day care centers and health fairs. Accessibility is the second major barrier to health service after affordability. We provide accessible care and with support from First 5 Santa Clara we provide free health services to children ages 0-5 throughout the county,” said Mike Reza, Health Mobile.

The Health Mobile offers comprehensive dental and primary medical care including diagnostic, preventive, restorative and special care treatments. Specific dental services include; dental exams, x-rays, oral health assessments and education, sealants, fillings, root canals, and extractions. Medical care includes; medical exams, diagnosis and treatment for early diabetes and child obesity.

These services are provided through partnerships with local schools and non-profit organizations, which helps reach families in their own neighborhoods. The Health Mobile also appears at health fairs and community events. The redesigned colorful cartoon characters on the bus make it easier for families to spot at events and more inviting for children.
