Our Oral Health Campaign

Do you know that tooth decay is the single most common chronic disease in young children, more prevalent than asthma or diabetes?! Sadly, last year, over 9,800 baby root canals were performed at two FIRST 5 funded Pediatric Dental Clinics.
February is National Children’s Dental Health Month, and FIRST 5, in partnership with The Health Trust and the Children’s Dental Group, hosted trainings for non-profit and health care providers to help educate children and families about the importance of oral health.
FIRST 5 also created an Oral Health Kit which includes an age-appropriate toothbrush for newborn babies or toddlers, toothpaste, a timer, dental floss and a handy tip sheet with easy to follow diagrammed steps on tooth cleaning techniques.
If you or your organization would like to schedule an oral health training please contact Evelyn Romero at evelyn@first5kids.org.
