Recent Infant Deaths Lead to Immediate Launch of Safe Sleep Awareness Campaign

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Public Health Department will report on recent infant deaths due to unsafe sleeping practices and discuss the alarming figure of 41 infant deaths in Santa Clara County within the last six years.

In addition, a mother who recently lost a child due to unsafe sleeping practices will share her tragic story in an effort to urge other parents to avoid unsafe sleeping practices.

To help prevent any more tragic deaths due to unsafe sleeping practices, FIRST 5 Santa Clara County, the County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Public Health Department will announce their partnership to launch a countywide Safe Sleep Awareness Campaign.  The partners will discuss the aspects of the campaign including tips and messages for expectant parents and parents of infants.
