Touchpoints are periods during which a child’s spurt in development results in pronounced disruptions in the family system. The goal of the Touchpoints Model is to change individual practice and cause a shift in the larger system around the care of families by combining relationship building and child development into a framework that service providers can use to enhance their work with children and families.
· Understand the Touchpoints developmental and relationship-based framework of service delivery.
· Understand the Touchpoints model within the context of disorganization in a child’s development.
· Learn how to apply anticipatory guidance in supporting parents during periods of vulnerability
· Apply elements of the Touchpoints Model as a way to reflect on work with children, families, and other service providers.
· Enhance observation and interview techniques through watching and listening to a skilled Touchpoints practitioner.
