It was suggested by FIRST 5 partners that ASQ and ASQ: S-E trainings should be provided quarterly due to staff turnover in the regions.

Given this expressed need by FIRST 5 partners, the FIRST 5 Community of Learning is being responsive by asking for each Community Partnership to make one ASQ Champion available to be trained at the end of June.

This Champion will need to attend the Training of Trainers on June 25th and June 26th, and then help the Trainer, Dr. Jantina Clifford, train FIRST 5 partners at a general ASQ training on June 27th.

In addition, the Champion (and respective employing agency of Champion) will need to commit to at least one-year of training partners in their region on the ASQ and ASQ: S-E. The following provides additional detail on the three days of ASQ training:

1. ASQ and ASQ:SE (Training of Trainers)

· Designate one Community Partnership Champion to be available for 2 days of Training of Trainers on June 25 and 26, 2008, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with Dr. Jantina Clifford from the University of Oregon, where the ASQ originated.

· The Champions agencies will need to sign a letter of commitment that this Champion will be available for 1 year to train newly hired FIRST 5 Partners staff in the ASQ and ASQ: S-E in their respective regions.

2. General ASQ and ASQ: S-E Training

· This general training is for FIRST 5 staff and newly hired FIRST 5 partners who have not received an ASQ and ASQ: S-E training.

· Lead Agencies need to ensure that the newly trained ASQ Champion is available to train FIRST 5 partners on how to administer the ASQ and ASQ: S-E on June 27, 2008, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

· Dr. Clifford will be available on June 27th to assist and coach the new trainers/Champions.
