In December 2003, FIRST 5 approved funding for Eastfield Ming Quong Children & Family Services to conduct research for identifying the children in our county who are living with the highest risk factors affecting their healthy development. Data was collected from a variety of sources and across all geographic regions in the county. Data elements included 20 risk variables. A risk rating produced a "combined risk scale" and ultimately identified the areas of our county with the greatest cumulative risk. This data analysis, combined with research on best practice models, forms the basis for designing new services to best address the needs of these children and their families.
