
Blanca Alvarado, Santa Clara County Supervisor for District Two, has a rich history of championing the causes of young children and their families. Supervisor Alvarado’s commitment to public service is rooted in her deep belief of “Building Better Communities by Strengthening Families.” Prior to serving on the County Board of Supervisors, Supervisor Alvarado began her work in public service as San Jose City Council representative of District Five in 1980.
While chair of the County’s Children and Families Committee, Supervisor Alvarado’s commitment to children was demonstrated through her efforts in initiating prevention and early intervention programs such as the Early Childhood Development Collaborative (ECDC). The ECDC group was formed to establish a plan to promote healthy childhood development for all children. Supervisor Alvarado currently chairs the Public Safety and Justice Committee and co-chairs the Health and Hospital Committee. On these committees, Supervisor Alvarado has spearheaded many projects to improve the quality of life for all residents who live in Santa Clara County.
